The American Chain Association (ACA)
has developed improved power ratings for ANSI Standard roller chains.
The ratings feature:
- Speed factors that increase the power
capacity of standard series chain by 10% to 30% at moderate to high speeds.
- Ratings for Heavy series chains that
increase power capacity by 5% to 15% over standard series chains at low to
moderate speeds.
- Galling limits that permit larger pitch
(1 inch pitch and larger) chains to run at significantly higher speeds than
before.
- Lubrication
limits that provide much more flexibility to drive designers.
These ratings are a notable upgrade to the
power ratings for roller chain first published by the ACA in 1961.
